What we look for in writing instruments
Does a fountain pen have to work?
Not necessarily, because the value is often in the nib. Gold nibs, marked 14ct or 18ct, are common on Parker and Waterman pens. A pen with a cracked barrel is still worth sending, especially with its original box.
